Sunset Properties was born out of the dream of its founders, Hedson and Sonia Maldonado. A married couple, she a Costa Rican-American and he an American-Puerto Rican. We wanted to spend the rest of our lives close to the beach and in the sunshine
But that was impossible for us to do in California, as it was totally unaffordable. From California where the sun shines most often we came. We wanted to live the American Dream, live by the beach, enjoy the sun year round, dress in sandals and summer clothes and enjoy the beautiful nature that is all around here. We came here just to enjoy life. We opened a convenience store in a little plaza near the beach‚ that is how we started with Vacation Rentals.
It became obvious that many people were coming here to enjoy a vacation in the sun and to relax. Our Convenience store is visited by many foreigners enquiring about a place to stary here by the beach.
Sonia is a native Costa Rica who lived in the USA for 25 years. She learned English, got a degree from the University of Cambridge in England where she lived for three years. Returning to the USA, she quickly became an Interpreter and translator for the California Court system, later specialising in her field and creating training seminars for Interpreters. As a Senior Language Specialists she supervised 220 interpreters. But now as a vacation rental manager, she is helping hundreds of people interested in finding their dream vacation home or villa.
Hedson, an aerospace technician worked and retired earlier from the NASA program. A natural people person, Hedson will take you around and show you why he ‚fell in love with Costa Rica, but specially, Guanacaste. He will take care of showing you the best spots to have a vacation filled with adventure and fun!
We chose to settle in Playas del Coco, because this represents what we were looking for. A small fishing town with all the amenities, but laid back. Closeness with the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by beautiful nature. Our circle of friends keeps growing and growing.
People are good natured when they live in this paradise. Many vacationers have purchased property here and we now see them year after year for several months and they are some of our closest friends! covered.
